Youth Ministry Programs and Christian Ministries for Deaf Children and Adults
We are bringing about social, physical and spiritual changes with our Youth Ministry Programs and Christian Ministries not only for deaf children but many orpans and adults with many community outreach efforts. The Mustard Tree Ministry International is a Non-Profit, Christian (Interdenominational) ministry organization serving in Zambia, So.Central Africa. MTMI is committed to addressing the hard issues of poverty, hunger, joblessness, disease and premature death that face the precious, gentle people of Central Africa. We are endeavoring to bring social, physical and spiritual changes by:
1. Encouraging, strengthening, and equipping faithful pastors. Resources to fund, operate and maintain churches is almost nonexistent. How far can a pastor walk in a day. Where are the means to pay transport? Bibles are in great demand, yet they have so few.
2. Assisting widows and orphans and those with disabilities.
3. Provide care, education and trade skills for deaf children.
4. Youth development, leadership training.
5. Community outreach, (water projects, farming and building instruction).
"There are tens of thousands of children suffering in Zambia. As a group, none suffer more than those with disabilities. Barbara Lund's ministry to deaf children is a critical part of God's outreach to the orphans of Zambia. We must pray for this work, and support it in every way we are able. God desires to lavish His love upon these little ones; to help them discover His caring for them, to raise them as fulfilled and productive adults, and to bring them into the security of the Body of Christ. We are grateful that the Lord has brought this work to Zambia." Zambia Profile:
Zambia is one of the poorest nations on earth - with 11 million people, of which only half are employed. For those fortunate
enough to be employed, the average wage is $260 per year. One out of six have HIV/Aids (of course prostitution is rampant
as hunger takes precedence over caution) the other main threat is Malaria. Medicine, when available, is not free. We are seeing now at this time, a life span of 32 to 38 years. The average head of household is between the age of 14 - 16. For those with disabilities, such as deafness, blindness, the future they face is unimaginable.
Our ministry is based on the faith and hope; of a loving, compassionate God that has said "freely you received, freely give". As far as we're concerned, that's our marching orders, and from experience, we've learned, it most definitely is more blessed to give than to receive.
